State Shutdown Contingency Planning

General Goverment & Community College Coalition

Notice was received and a DTB filed regarding the potential for layoffs in General Government and the Community College Coalition if the state remained without a budget on July 1, 2017.

In addition, notice was received and a DTB filed regarding the potential for appointments & resulting vendor payments to our Language Access Providers being suspended if the state was without a budget on July 1, 2017.

The 2017-2019 operating budget was signed by the Governor on June 30, 2017 avoiding the need for layoffs at the last possible moment. This DTB was subsequently withdrawn.

To date, we are still without a capital budget and many are at risk of permanent layoff as a result.

Agencies and colleges are working with OFM to identify those impacted and we have requested notice, and the list, be sent as soon as it is available. Layoff notices have gone out in Parks and at TESC.

You can find all of the latest information about the capital budget and what you can do about it were posted here:

UPDATE: We are again at risk of a shutdown at the federal level.

Currently there is a 2 week budget extension in place that will take us to nearly the end of December. This has the potential to impact members whose work is federally funded in a number of agencies. At this point, no layoffs (temporary or otherwise) are planned or in process and the employer and Union are both monitoring closely.

Notice was received and a DTB filed on 8/30/17 regarding DES’s intent to implement an updated Capitol Campus Parking policy. The implementation date in unknown and we are awaiting more information from the employer before proceeding.
