Our Union is working to schedule a statewide RA UMCC—more to follow.

Our Union received a notice on 4/25/2018 of JR’s intent to install camera systems in one vehicle at each of the 8 JR community facilities.   The systems will be hardwired into the vehicles and will automatically record any time the vehicle is running.  Our union was able to have their questions addressed.  The cameras will record visual data only, and will only be reviewed if an incident in that vehicle is reported.  Incidents are defined in accordance with existing incident reporting JR policies, there will be signs in the vehicles indicating that they are subject to surveillance, and a communication will be sent to staff informing them of the camera, and training will be held.  Our union will be notified of any additional cameras.

Our Union has received notice of JR’s intent to install new camera systems in the JR community facilities.   This largely is an upgrade and expansion of existing camera systems.   Existing JR policies related to camera use, and data handling is unchanged.  The camera installation is part of larger upgrade to address safety and security systems.  Staff will be communicated to regarding the upgrades and training on the systems and their manuals will be provided to staff.   Our union will be notified of any additional cameras.

Our Union has received notice of JR’s intent to install new camera systems at Naselle Youth Camp. This largely is an upgrade and expansion of existing camera systems.   Our Union has requested negotiations on this subject—more to follow.

GREEN HILL SCHOOL

A DTB was filed on 10/11/16 in response to notice of changes to the staff entry protocol at Green Hill. The meeting for this DTB was held on 1/27/16 and the team to date is Gabe Hall, Ben Lupo, Roberto Velazquez, and Craig Sands. We had extensive discussion about the details and impacts of these new measures and are still awaiting additional information prior to meeting again. We heard from the agency that this information was nearly ready and were confirmed for our next meeting on 7/20/17 but this was rescheduled at the employer’s request. We ended up meeting on 10/9/17 and have since received a new draft of the protocol which was reviewed by the team for feedback. We are currently reviewing an updated policy and draft closure summary from OFM.
