10/2018

We have a Union Management Communication Committee meeting scheduled for d a UMCC scheduled for November 19th.  We have no Demands to Bargaining at this time.  The Highway Licensing Building experienced shutdowns this last week due to flooding in the basement and a campus lockdown.  The Mt. Vernon LSO was closed for paint fumes earlier this month.            

8/2018

Drives is on track for its rollout dates.  We are in discussion about an MOU to deal with compression issue in the Bell-Red office.  We have no Demands to Bargaining at this time.          

7/2018

Drives is on track for its rollout dates.  The director at DOL Pat Kohler has resigned and Teresa Bernsten who was the former Deputy Secretary will return from OMWBE to assume the Secretary role.  We had a UMCC meeting July 26th.  Items covered were pay compression issues; Holiday hours for Tuesday through Saturday Offices – the workgroup failed to reach a conclusion; An update on the August 31st Office Closure – while Drives is uploaded into operation over the long weekend the offices will be closed to customers, staff may take time off or come in and catch up on some yearly mandatory training; A lively discuss about training for supervisors and promotional opportunities; Mentoring & Developmental Job Assignments; Drives Roll out; Black Lake update; and changes in the HR office.       

6/2018

Drives is on track for its rollout dates.  We were informed that a new policy would be forwarded several weeks ago for review to address respectful behavior in the workplace.  DOL pulled the policy back for further review by the ELT.  The director at DOL Pat Kohler has resigned and Teresa Bernsten who was the former Deputy Secretary will return from OMWBE to assume the Secretary role.  We have a UMCC coming up in July and some agenda items have been gathered.         

5/2018

DOL sent notice regarding Real ID Background Checks.  We have filed a Demand to Bargain as there are a significant number of members who will now be subject to background checks.  Drives is on track for its rollout dates.  We were informed that a new policy will be forwarded this week for review to address respectful behavior in the workplace.      

4/16/18

The rollout for Drives 2 is on pace.  There has been more training for staff built into the rollout this time.  There were some changes to translation services proposed by management at the last UMCC in February under Title 6, DOL has abandoned those changes and will continue to offer translation services in the current format – translation line, staff with language skills and abilities, and publications.  DOL is ramping up its coaching and mentoring matching options to help staff develop skills for promotional opportunities.  DOL is reviewing LNI’s Developmental Job Assignments process.

2/19/18

We will meet jointly with Local 17 for a Union Management Committee Meeting on February 13th.  Agenda items included information around Immigration Data Share/Implementation of EO 17-01; Bilingual Services Change in the LSO’s; DRIVES 2 Rollout Update; Wait Time Efforts Update; the DOL Mentoring/DJA Program; Interview 39 Discussion; Safety Concerns at some LSO’s – Lobby areas; Tentative Leave Pilot; and an Open Forum to bring up issues of concern to members.  The general consensus is that some of the initiatives will increase wait times significantly.   Agenda items are being gathered.  We are still awaiting follow up data for our joint Local 17, DOL LR, and Lean facilitators to work on holiday hours in a process improvement format.  Once we have the requested data sets we will meet again to come to a resolution of the identified problem.

We met 12/13/2017 jointly with Local 17, DOL LR, and Lean facilitators to work on holiday hours in a process improvement format.  Once we have the requested data sets we will meet again to come to a resolution of the identified problem.  We have discussed and will be scheduling a joint 17 and WFSE UMCC after the first of the year to discuss the changes in the LSO’s, wait times, staffing levels, and schedules.
